If these are your thing, then be aware that the more expensive Pro X3 Suite contains more VI’s and audio content. Without hearing the quality of these new VI’s I can’t comment, except that the addition of ‘Cinematic Soundscapes’ should benefit the today’s trend of composers working in production music. New virtual instruments are included for producers and composers, as well as Zynaptiq’s Orange Vocoder which looks fun. Ultrabeat would be so simple if it would just allow longer samples. It seems there’s something for everyone in this update. Is there a way to assign different samples to different pads in the same playlist without itunes running through the whole playlist? So it looks like this option only works only if you have one sample. Since I want to use 3 samples, I put all three samples into the same playlist and thought that it would be possible to assign them to a specific pad on my AKAI MPD24, but it didn't work, it would just play through the whole playlist.

So my next try was with applescripts, I followed all of the instructions that were posted by ANDROID and I was able to hear the full sample, some progress. Is there a limit as to how long a sample can be in ultrabeat? I've tried messing with the envelope section and could extend it a bit but not much. First I tried using Ultrabeat, I was able to assign the samples easily to where I wanted them, but for some reason ultrabeat will cut off the sample short (at around 10 seconds). What I want to do is assign a specific pad to each sample. The samples are spoken and one of them is about 50 seconds long. What I need is 3 different samples that I can trigger with my AKAI MPD24. I'm trying to add samples to Mainstage for use with live performance. I may have been barking up the wrong tree, and if so, I apologize. Using these techniques, you can create a "Stop" button as well (useful during practice), as well as a "Next Track" and "Previous Track" buttons. This is handy so you can put all your tracks into the same playlist without having to worry about pausing. If it's in there, iTunes will play that track, then stop.

It then looks at iTunes for a playlist with the same name as the Concert, then looks in there for a track with the same name as the patch you made. What all that does is this: when you press that little play button, an AppleScript looks at the name of your concert and the Patch that's currently highlighted. Rename them to the same name as their corresponding patches in MainStage.ħ) Drag the backing tracks into the Concert playlist. I name my patches the song name, as it's less confusing.ĥ) Go into iTunes and create a playlist with the same name as your Concert.Ħ) Import your backing tracks. In the Parameter mapping, choose "Actions" > "AppleScript" > "iTunes - Patch Track of Concert".ģ) Name your Concert (I usually name mine set ).Ĥ) Create your Patches. Use the "Learn" button to assign it (I assigned it to the "Play" button on my NanoKontrol).Ģ) In the "Edit" screen, go to your Concert (not the individual patches). Make sure it's type is set to "Press / Release". Here's what I did:ġ) In "Layout", create a button and mark it "Play". The good news about scripts is they're already built! All you have to do is pick which script would work best for you. Playing a 12 song set with all those guys loaded into RAM as well as the patches made things highly unstable. I tried doing the sample route, and it loads up in RAM. Are you playing a backing track with the sample? If so, you'd be better off with the script.
